If you missed our last caving trip your missed out on a whole bunch. Here's what went on.
The trip started out great 6 o'clock in the morning. I've never seen everyone so awake. We headed out about 6:30 AM and got to Renfro Valley by 9:20. We stopped at a Shell Station to meet up with Trey and Dick along with some friends. We had to choose between the wet cave and the even wetter cave, so we let Mike make the decision for us. He sure picked a winner. We got up to the entrance of the cave and went in. We were told that there was bats in caves with rabies, which was great to know after we were already in the cave. When we got in it was fairly dry like we suspected and all of us were in high hopes, that is until the moment came that we all dreaded; a flooded room of the cave where the only way to cross was to go through it. It didn't look so bad, until the first person in fell into water above his head about halfway through. The water was about 55 degrees so after we all crossed, we were freezing for a long time afterwards. After that we crawled and walked through more of the cave, slipping and sliding most of the way. Some of the members went down the "Slide", but some wimped out and went around. It was very fun at this point because we all were just starting to dry off. Later on, we saw a deer in the water trying to get out, so we had to give it some room and wait until it got out. Hope was really with us until we figured out that we couldnt cross this next section of water and had to head back. All anyone could think about at that point is "Oh my gosh, we have to go back in the freezing cold water". We all made it back again, but it didn't feel as cold this time around. We all made it out of the cave without any casualties. When everyone saw daylight they immedialty felt the sensation of the warm air and we started to clean ourselves off. We then took pictures and then headed back to change clothes. The crew went out to dinner at Gene's and then headed back home. We all knew it would be easy to go to bed that night. It was a lot of hard work, but overall it was worth it when we all look back on this great experience.
