  About our Crew

St. James Venture Crew 42 is a part of the Boy Scouts Venturing program and has been active since 2001. Venturing is a co-ed program that gives teenagers the opportunity to plan and organize various outdoor activities. Members of the crew have been involved in many high adventure activities, including caving, rock climbing, rappelling, fishing, and canoeing. Our crew is a non profit organization and we raise money for our outings through fundraisers such as junior high dances and our annual mulch sale. The crew also participates in various service projects throughout the community like Habitat for Humanity. The Venturing program is a great way for teenagers to get involved in their community and it provides them with great experiences that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

What is Venturing?

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age.

Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities. Local community organizations establish a Venturing crew by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.
